BOARD MEETINGS

The next meeting of the Merseyside Probation Trust Board will be held at 2.00 pm on Wednesday, 25th June at Burlington House, 4th Floor, Crosby Road North, Waterloo, Liverpool L22 OPJ. Members of the public are invited to attend, and anyone wishing to do so is asked please to notify the Board Secretary prior to the event. An agenda will be posted onto this site one week prior to the meeting. Copies of additional papers for the meeting are also available from the Board Secretary on request.

BUTLER TRUST AWARDS

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal presented another four prestigious Butler Trust Awards to staff from Merseyside Probation Trust on 3rd March 2008. This followed last year's unprecedented success when the Area won almost 50% of the awards it was eligible for nationally.

Our picture shows three of the winners after they had received their awards at Buckingham Palace. They are (from left) Assistant Chief Officer Andy Stelman, Mental Health Liaison Officer Bernadette McEllin and Senior Probation Officer John McIlveen of the Community Justice Centre. Chief Executive Officer John Stafford (right) accompanied the staff to the event. A posthumous award was presented to the widow and sons of our fourth winner, Senior Operations Manager David Sinden, who died suddenly in January 2008.

HRH The Princess Royal is Patron of The Butler Trust, an independent charity which recognises the excellence and innovation of people working with offenders in the UK. Through its Annual Award Scheme and Development Programme, the Trust helps to develop effective care for offenders by:

• identifying and promoting excellence and innovation by Prison and Probation Service and criminal justice social work staff, contractors and volunteers;

• developing and disseminating best practice in the care and resettlement of offenders throughout the UK;

• providing professional and personal development opportunities for award-winning staff.
